+1 Ride Pets to Fight Combat Controls and Survival Tips

Last updated:

Mounted combat in +1 Ride Pets to Fight combines click attacks, pet specials and movement. Learn when to use each attack and how to make space when your pet is taking damage.

Quick answer

Ride a pet, approach an enemy and click to attack. When your special is charged or off cooldown, position yourself and press Q. Move out of red ground warnings, retreat when your pet's HP is low, and use control or survival effects to help stay in the fight.

Click to Attack and Press Q for Your Special

  1. Ride a pet and approach an enemy.
  2. Click to use the pet's normal attack.
  3. Watch the special's charge or cooldown state. Once it is available, move into position and press Q.
  4. Keep using normal attacks while you wait for the special to become available again.

Attack and skill names change with your mount. Check the labels for your current pet when you switch. You can compare their abilities in the pet catalog.

Check Charge, Cooldown and Placement

Follow the availability indicator for your current pet instead of assuming every special has the same interval. Position matters too: a special placed away from its target can miss.

For example, Red Panda uses Paw Pat as its click attack and Bamboo Forest as its Q special. Wait until Bamboo Forest is charged, then aim its placement at the enemy. Against the large tree-shaped boss on the early route, pay attention to both the cast position and the red ground markers.

Move Out of Warnings and Make Space

Watch your pet's HP and the ground around enemies. Move outside red warning areas, and back away if repeated hits are draining your pet's HP. Once you have room, reposition and continue attacking.

A slow, stun or knockback can give you more room to move. Crocodile's special combines slow and stun, while Lion's combines knockback and stun. Use the opening to reposition rather than staying in the path of another attack.

Power Growth Is Different from Attack Damage

A pet's Power per training hit describes how much Power it gains while training. Its Health, Damage per attack, and special's damage and effects describe separate parts of its combat setup. Compare all of them when choosing a mount; a training multiplier is not the same thing as an equal multiplier to final attack damage.

Bonuses also affect different parts of the fight:

  • Power growth: The x2 Power pass doubles Power gained per hit. VIP provides a permanent 1.5× Power multiplier that stacks with other passes and boosts.
  • Boss damage and HP: Reaper Trail gives +15% Boss DMG and +8% Pet HP. Its damage bonus applies to Boss fights.
  • Dodge and critical hits: The listed Ninja setup gives an 8% chance to dodge an incoming attack and +2% Crit. The listed Cowboy setup makes the first hit a ×300% critical hit; against Bosses, Quick Draw triggers every 10 seconds.

Train against dummies to build Power before a difficult fight. Rebirth resets Power and levels while improving growth bonuses, so train again afterward. See the training guide for training areas and unlocks.

Choose Control, Recovery or Boss Bonuses

  • Choose a control pet when you need room to move. Crocodile's slow and stun can help restrain enemies; Lion's knockback and stun can help push them away. Compare more options in the crowd-control pet tier list.
  • Choose two-star Ghoul for a chance to recover after falling. Undying Hunger grants a six-second berserk state; get a kill during it to restore HP to 30%. This setup also gives +17.5% Pet HP.
  • Choose Reaper Trail for a Boss-focused boost. Its +15% Boss DMG helps against Bosses, while +8% Pet HP supports survival. Compare it with the other Halloween Trails.
