+1 Ride Pets to Fight Crowd Control Pet Tier List

Last updated:

Choose a mount that helps you control enemies and reposition during a fight. The right pick depends on whether you need slow and stun or knockback to create distance.

Quick answer

Kitsune is our S-tier crowd-control pick: Nine Tails Illusion combines slow and stun with a 10-second interval. Crocodile, Lion, Elephant and Pegasus are A-tier alternatives with two control effects and 12-second intervals. Hippo is B tier for knockback alone. These tiers judge control utility, not training gains or overall damage.

Crowd-Control Tiers

Our tiers prioritize control-effect combinations and the interval between special abilities.

Kitsune earns S tier because Nine Tails Illusion pairs slow with stun on a 10-second interval—the shortest among these six pets. Compared with Crocodile's same effect combination, that shorter interval makes Kitsune our first choice for repeated control opportunities.

Crocodile, Lion, Elephant and Pegasus earn A tier. Each combines two control effects on a 12-second interval. Their different effects make them alternatives for different positioning needs, rather than a strict first-to-fourth ordering within the tier.

Hippo earns B tier. Mega Yawn provides knockback on a 12-second interval. It can create separation, but the higher tiers add a second control effect.

Choose Stun and Slow or Make Space with Knockback

  • Choose Kitsune or Crocodile for slow and stun. Nine Tails Illusion and Swamp Whirlpool suit a plan centered on restricting enemy movement while you reposition. Crocodile is a Rare option if you already have it and need this combination.
  • Choose Lion for knockback and stun. King's Roar suits fights where you want to push enemies away and use the stun to help reposition.
  • Choose Elephant or Pegasus for knockback and slow. Trunk Cannon and Starlight Gallop pair separation with movement control. They share the same effect combination and interval, so compare the Health and damage on your current cards when choosing between them.
  • Use an owned Hippo when knockback meets your immediate need. Mega Yawn still offers a way to make space, even without the extra control effect of the higher-tier choices.

While riding your chosen pet, check that its special is available, position yourself to hit the intended enemies, and press Q. With Elephant, the control comes from Trunk Cannon; clicking uses its normal Trunk Whack attack.

Use the opening to move to a safer position. If repeated hits are draining your pet's HP, back away; move out of red ground warnings instead of waiting in them for your special to become available.

Match Your Mount to the Fight

For burn damage, consider Fire Dragon: its Inferno Breath applies burn and has a 12-second interval. That gives it a different purpose from the control combinations above; being outside these tiers does not make it a weaker damage choice.

For training, compare Power per training hit on the pet cards you can currently use. For combat, weigh Health, normal-hit damage and special damage alongside control utility. A crowd-control tier does not determine which of your pets trains fastest or deals the most damage.

Use the pet directory to compare attributes and abilities, or the combat controls and survival guide for attack timing and positioning. If you are working toward a new mount, consult the Egg Forge combinations and chances; a combination's rarity odds do not guarantee a particular pet.
